I am living in Jhb and loving it. We have a wonderful circle of friends and manage to get out and about over the weekends. I am married with 3 boys (the tomboy is still in me) and we cycle quite a lot. My husband, Doug, is an avid cyclist and cycles with the Vets.
After school I went to Pietermaritzburg varsity (still so green and innocent) and did a BA in Drama and Psychology. I had notions of teaching drama to troubled and handicapped children. After 3 years I decided this studying thing was not for me so worked for a year and then backpacked and worked my way around the world for 3 years. I then came back and went into training and have stayed there for the last 18 years. I have a partner (in crime) in business and we do sales and management training in SA and into the rest of Africa. Lots of fun and hard work but I love it. I get to meet people from all over the world. I was so shy and lacked so much self confidence at school so I have come a long way.
Doug, my husband, is a strategist and executive coach part time and a pastor full time! We have a small church which keeps us very busy but very blessed. I run the Children’s Church so I can be like a child all over again. God has been good to us.
Our kids are 12, 10 and 9. Yes, I had 3 kids in 3 years. It was hectic but now they are such good friends and we often have 6 – 8 kids over for weekends. They also meet up with other kids in the complex and go down to the park to play cricket or soccer. They often will come back to our place to swim and something to eat and then they are off again. I have learnt to bowl and kick a ball too. Keaton, our eldest, is a councillor on the Jhb mini city council and is having a ball this year. They get the kids involved in all sorts of projects and it’s wonderful to see him grow in maturity and confidence.
